BIO:
Hello.
My name is Gregory Hyde.
...and I am a music addict.
I’ve been a full-time professional musician in the Chicagoland area for the past 5 years, entertaining fans at concerts, festivals, parties, and the occasional impromptu commuter train jam session.
I picked up a guitar at age 15, skipped college, got a great job that made me miserable, quit, played all over Tulsa, OK (my hometown), developed some chops with local bands, toured the U.S. with a signed group as a backing guitarist/vocalist, performed live on several notable radio shows, had some of my songs placed in award-winning films, documentaries, & cable television shows, have sold over 4,000 copies of my independently produced albums, garnered a Billboard Music World Songwriting Competition award for the Rock category, and have averaged almost 400 solo acoustic shows per year (yep, seriously). I've also had the privilege to open shows for artists like Tesla, Monte Montgomery, Guster, and last year's American Idol winner, Lee DeWyze.
My new album, Hello God This is Gregory Hyde, is now available. Recorded over 2 years with the help of sonic heavyweight engineers Matt Talbott (vocalist/guitarist for HUM), Brian Scheuble (Death Cab for Cutie, John Mayer, Bon Jovi, Marilyn Manson, & everyone in between), and Mike Watts (The Almost, Project 86, Theory Of a Deadman, Sevendust), the disk is a melodic rock album with hints of Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World & Wilco.
Aside from my melodic habit, I also enjoy listening to heartbeats, books, and Elissa's voice.
